What You'll Study in the Early Childhood/Childhood Education English or History Concentration

Your concentration courses will expand your knowledge of different eras of history or literature, and through your education coursework, you’ll build a foundation in principles and best practices of early childhood and childhood education.

Our program is jointly registered with SUNY New Paltz, making it smoother than ever to transition from DCC to a bachelor's program and, finally, to full teaching certification in New York State.

ENG 201: Pre-Renaissance/18th Century English Literature (for English concentration)
A study of significant poetry, essays, dramas and novels from the Middle Ages through the Age of Reason

HIS 107: History of World Civilization Before 1700 (for history concentration)
A survey of the ideas, religions and events that shaped the values of world cultures and institutions

EED 103: Early Childhood/Childhood Observation
Learn about children from preschool through upper elementary through a series of guided observations
