PLC/VFD Wiring and Control

This course provides a comprehensive lesson on the function, operation, installation, and construction of electrical wiring and wiring components with the goal of wiring a programmable logic controller (PLC) and a variable frequency drive (VFD) in an industrial control cabinet. It also includes VFD settings and operation. Some of the specific topics include electrical control system wiring, disconnects, and overcurrent protection, PLC and VFD installation, how to wire a PLC in an electrical enclosure, and variable frequency drive (VFD) motor control. Specific objectives include how to wire and test a master control relay (MCR) circuit; how to wire motor circuits to a VFD; and how to interface and operate a VFD.

Topics: Electrical control panel wiring, terminal blocks, grounding, wire feeding and bundling, motor wiring, PLC wiring, VFD wiring and connecting to a PLC, VFD control using a PLC
Prerequisites: AC/DC Electricity training
Approximate Total Training Course Time: 50 hours, 25 hours hands-on lab time (actual lab time will depend on previous experience with electrical wiring)
