Oct. 1, 2021--DCC will resume its popular in-person open houses this fall, offering three opportunities for new students and their families to explore the College’s Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Hudson Valley Regional Airport facilities.
“We are so excited to be resuming in-person open houses this fall,” said Michael Roe, associate dean of enrollment. “Campus tours offer prospective students and their families a real snapshot of what we have to offer - our excellent and innovative academic experiences and our active student life. And this year, we also have two new facilities to show off. So, even if you think you know DCC, stop in and check us out!
DCC’s fall open house and information session schedule includes:
DCC @ HVR Airport
o Saturday, Oct. 16: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Find out about DCC’s aviation programs and tour the College’s new 31,800-square-foot facility at the Hudson Valley Regional Airport. Staff and faculty will be on hand to provide information on all three of DCC’s aviation programs: pilot, aviation maintenance technician and aviation management. Attendees will also be able to step inside Falcon One, a Grumman G3-C20 jet previously owned by the U.S. government and used by presidents George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, and General Norman Schwarzkopf.
o Thursday, Nov. 11: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This self-guided event will feature academic and student services showcases set up in various locations on campus. Attendees can tour the campus, check out Conklin Hall, DCC’s 132,000-square-foot academic housing community, and stop by the athletics and fitness facilities in Falcon Hall. Information sessions and presentations will be held in various locations and times across campus.
DCC @ Fishkill
o Saturday, Nov. 20: 11 a.m to 2 p.m.
Stop in to our new Fishkill facility, conveniently located at 461 Rt. 9 - right at the intersection of Route 9 and Interstate 84. The 47,000-square-foot facility features computational multi-purpose learning spaces, and biology and physical sciences labs. The open house is being held in conjunction with SUNY Financial Aid Day and will feature a financial aid presentation and FAFSA completion workshop. Attendees will find out about the many courses they can take at DCC @ Fishkill, including the College’s new hospitality and tourism program, and microcredential offerings. The event will also include tours, presentations and academic showcases.
“We encourage all DCC friends and supporters to help us get the word out,” said Roe. “If you know someone who is thinking about going to college or if they’re just curious to see the new facilities, please invite them to stop in.”
