FEBRUARY 11, 2022 – Drones have become a mainstay in many industries – from land surveying and public safety to real estate, agriculture and filmmaking. Slated to start in March, DCC’s new credit-free drone classes and microcredential are a great opportunity for those who want to fly drones commercially and the hobbyist or beginner who wishes to expand their skillset.
The three courses offered include Commercial Drone Operator, Maintaining and Flying your Drone and Introduction to Drone Videography. Students can enroll in a single class or complete all three to earn a Drone Pilot credit-free microcredential. Each course runs for two to three weeks, and they range in price from $175 - $295.
Commercial Drone Operator runs March 9 – March 30 and is fully online. This course prepares students for the FAA Part 107 exam, which leads to commercial drone operator licensure. The cost of the course is $175.
Maintaining and Flying Your Drone runs April 5 – April 19 and takes place at DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus. This course focuses on the safe operation, maintenance and repair of unmanned aircraft systems. The cost of the course is $295. The course fee includes a Snaptain A15H RC Quadcopter with 1080P HD camera, which students can keep after the class is over.
Introduction to Drone Videography runs April 26 – May 12 at the Poughkeepsie campus. This beginner-level videography course teaches students how to capture and edit aerial imagery. The cost of the course is $175.
