Students, Faculty and Staff Assist in Coat Drive

December 10, 2015 – Dutchess Community College students taking a course on societal problems joined with DCC faculty and staff members recently to sort over 5,000 coats for distribution to those in need.

The coats were collected throughout the fall and were sorted at Dutchess Outreach in Poughkeepsie before being delivered to multiple locations in the county and given to local residents.

The students participated as part of a service learning initiative that connects classroom learning with work in the community. Faculty and staff members donated their time as an outreach effort on behalf of their union, Dutchess United Educators.
