April 18, 2016 – Four Dutchess Community College students recently were presented with 2016 State University
of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence. The awards were presented
by SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher at a ceremony in Albany.
The recipients are Engineering Science student Paul Christian, New Paltz; Exercise
Science and Wellness student Eric Ortiz, Wappingers Falls; Business Administration
student Eric Tomik, Pleasant Valley; and Nursing student Danielle Van Ostrand, Poughkeepsie.
“These outstanding students reflect the achievements that are possible when one is
committed to excellence both in and out of the classroom,” said DCC President Pamela
Edington. “As leaders, they have enriched our campus and our community, and I know
they’ll continue to be role models as they continue their education and careers.”
Almost 250 students from 64 SUNY campuses were given the honor this year, which recognizes
the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in leadership, athletics,
community service, performing arts, campus involvement and career achievement.
