Welcome to Hudson Valley FIRST® LEGO® League (HVFLL) and our 11th season!!! For information and networking opportunities among coaches, parents, and volunteers, please check out our webpage: http://www.facebook.com/HudsonValleyFLL. Information about HVFLL is also provided at https://sites.google.com/site/hudsonvalleyfirstlegoleague (You do not need to be a Facebook user or have a Google account to view these pages).
As a not-for-profit organization, we are dependent on the generosity of everyone who appreciates the value of this program for our youth, our future world leaders. If you are interested and able to contribute, please click here: https://1406.thankyou4caring.org/HVFLL
Registration for HVFLL Regional Tournaments will open at noon on Monday, October 15, 2018 and will close at noon on Thursday, November 15, 2018 for FLL (senior) teams and Friday, December 14, 2018 for Jr.FLL teams.
Please read the following paragraph carefully to understand our registration policy.
We operate on a first come first served basis. You must register ONLY for the tournament you plan to attend. Due to the rapid growth of FLL in the region, our registration policy strives to balance the demand on the HVFLL organizers/volunteers with the demand for tournament slots. With this in mind, we are offering ten qualifying tournaments, each with 12 FLL team slots for a total of 120 slots. There is no wait list on a per tournament basis, therefore the only way to guarantee a spot is to register for an available tournament. In the spirit of gracious professionalism, we ask that teams register for only one tournament. If a team registers for more than one tournament, all registrations after the first will be cancelled. We also ask that teams from outside the HVFLL region not register for one of our tournaments until after November 4, 2018. In the same spirit, we ask that if your team is competing elsewhere prior to the HVFLL tournament, that you do not register for our tournament until after November 4. If you were unable to register your team, please email your contact (email and phone number) and team information to Dr. Akins at firstname.lastname@example.org to be placed on the wait list. The teams on the wait list will be selected in the order in which they were added, and will be offered a spot at the tournament which has an opening without team preference for location.
Please read all the information provided on this page prior to registering.
For the 2018-2019 season, a total of 10 qualifying tournaments for FLL teams are scheduled. There are 12 senior FLL teams competing in a single tournament insuring that the tournaments are kept to a manageable size and facilitating a high quality experience for everyone attending. All senior tournaments expect teams to arrive by approximately 8 a.m. and award ceremonies are expected to be completed by approximately 3 p.m. Not all tournament sites are planning to host FLL Jr. teams but a Jr.FLL Expo is offered for Jr.FLL teams only. Senior teams consist of 2 – 10 members within the ages of 9 through 14 competing in the Into Orbit Challenge. Winning senior teams in each category (robot performance, robot design, project, and core values) as well as an overall tournament champion will receive trophies at each qualifier tournament and at the championship tournament. The top performing teams from each qualifier tournament will advance to the regional championship tournament at Dutchess Community College.
Junior teams consist of 3 – 6 members within the ages of 6 through 9 who participate in the Mission Moon Challenge. FLL Jr. teams are scheduled for group sessions where they present their work to a team of reviewers. All FLL Jr. team members will be acknowledged in the closing ceremony and receive tournament medals.
All of our sponsors would like to invite you to attend any of our events as a spectator to cheer on the teams.
