Continuing education courses and life-long learning opportunities are offered through the Office of Community Services. A wide range of non-credit courses, seminars, and training programs are designed to help everyone get results. If you are an adult who wants to enhance your job skills or develop new hobbies, you will find many top quality, low cost offerings from which to choose.
Our programs: Non-Credit/Continuing Education Programs offered by the DCC Office of Community Services fulfill the basic occupational, informational, and educational needs of the community. The non-credit approach makes it possible for the life-long learner to continue education in an informal, non-competitive environment where interest in learning is the only consideration. Classes are offered on-campus and at convenient locations throughout Dutchess County.
Tax Deduction: An income tax deduction or credit may be allowed for expenses of education (including registration fees, travel, meals and lodging) undertaken to maintain and improve professional skills.
Special Notes: The College reserves the right to make substitutions for instructors without prior notice. Non-Credit/Continuing Education Programs are normally open to persons 16 years old or over. In exceptional circumstances, permission may be given by the Dean of Community Services for younger persons to enroll. Permission is not needed when the courses are designed for people under 16. The College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation in its Non-Credit Programs.
Office Hours: Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Office Location: Bowne Hall, Room 118, DCC Campus, 53 Pendell Road, Poughkeepsie.
The Dutchess Community College "Gift of Learning": Send the gift of learning. Purchase a gift certificate for a loved one. Call (845) 431-8910 and register your friend or family member for a course and we will send you the certificate by mail.
Each registrant will receive a receipt and schedule which includes the time, and location of the course(s). The College may cancel any course that lacks sufficient enrollment to cover expenses. When the decision is made to cancel (usually one week before the first class meeting), cancellation notices will be sent to all registrants. You can help assure a course will run by registering at least two weeks before the starting date.
For start date, check your non-credit brochure or call us at (845) 431-8910. You may also check
online at www.sunydutchess.edu/cfweb. For room assignments check online ON OR AFTER THE
THURSDAY BEFORE YOUR COURSE BEGINS or call the Office of Community Services.
In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergencies, it may be necessary to cancel classes. Such classes are normally made up at a later date. The cancellation of day classes WILL NOT automatically cancel evening classes. Cancellation announcement for evening classes will be made over local radio stations. Because noncredit courses are self-supporting, we count on registration fees to cover instructor salaries and other course costs.
The fee stated for each course is the registration fee only unless otherwise indicated. Text or materials fees will be paid to the instructor on the first night of class or purchased in the bookstore.
