You can leave a legacy that enriches the lives of Dutchess Community College students and the academic programs that they pursue.
Your gift may be directed in one of the following ways:
A gift to the Fund for Dutchess is used for the area of greatest need.
A restricted gift may be directed to a program/scholarship of your choice or creation but is limited to the amount that you designate and is awarded over time.
An endowed gift may also be directed to a program/scholarship of your choice or creation. An endowment continues to grow over time, allowing it to provide ongoing awards in perpetuity to the program/scholarship of your choice. Your endowment gift can be named in honor of you or another person of your choosing to further recognize your legacy at DCC.
These are just a few ways you can create a legacy that will make a difference in the lives of our students.
Two easy estate planning strategies that can benefit you and support DCC students are:
WILLS AND BEQUESTS
The most familiar type of bequests are gifts made through a provision in a will or trust. You can make a bequest of a dollar amount, a specific asset, or a percentage of your estate. You may like the fact that bequests are gifts that are made through your estate plan and can still be adjusted if needed.
Creating your plan is easy with the new online Estate Planning Guide. Here, you can organize your family and estate information in this detailed workbook. To get started, click here on “Plan Your Estate.” We look forward to working with you as you plan your legacy!
In addition to “traditional” bequests made through your will or trust, you can use beneficiary designations to create your legacy. Easily make a gift by completing a beneficiary designation form provided by your account administrator. The most common beneficiary forms are available for bank accounts, investment accounts (401k, IRA) and life insurance policies.
• The benefits of creating your legacy through a beneficiary designation are numerous: avoid probate; tax savings; revocable and easy to do.
The DCC Endowment Fund was established to financially sustain the mission and work of the DCC Foundation and Dutchess Community College. The endowment supports a range of important scholarships and funds that help students pay for tuition, books, travel-study programs, technology, and supportive services.
Additionally, academic departments benefit from the funds raised through support for endowed faculty chairs and other educational enhancements that enrich the student experience. And the College benefits with funding for technology and campus improvements.
A well-designed estate gift can provide financial benefits, such as tax savings, and can be made with a variety of assets, including charitable gift annuities. Our staff is committed to helping you find the gift plan that is right for you and your family.
