Admissions Checklist: Non-Degree-Seeking Student

Please use this checklist as a guide to help you apply to DCC and meet the steps necessary to register and prepare for classes this semester. 

1. Complete Your Admissions Application

Make sure you select “Part-Time Non-Degree Study Application” from drop down menu after you create your login ID and PIN. Complete the application to get to the signature page with your myDCC login and password (write down this login info),


2. Submit Prerequisite Proof (if applicable)

If you are looking to take a class that requires a prerequisite(s), and you believe you have met the requirement(s) through means outside of DCC, send proof of completion to Proof of prerequisites include college transcripts, high school transcripts, AP test scores, SAT Scores, ACT scores or TASC exam scores. 

Documents do not need to be official but they must have your name and institution clearly stated to be accepted.

3. Take Academic Placement Tests (if applicable)

If you are looking to take classes in any of the following subjects, and do not meet the prerequisite through any means, a placement test may be taken to determine if you are eligible. The subject areas include:

Check with a Registrar’s Office representative before signing up for the test to determine if it is necessary.

Students who need testing accommodations must contact the Office of Accommodative Services at (845) 431-8055 prior to taking the placement test.

4. Submit Immunization Records (if applicable)

Students taking six or more credits who were born after January 1, 1957 must submit proof of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella in order to attend classes. Complete the Certificate of Immunization Form and upload your records online. If you prefer, your medical provider or school nurse can fax the records to (845) 431-8504.

COVID-19 Vaccination: All DCC students must be fully vaccinated to attend in-person classes and/or use any on-campus service or resource. To verify that you have been vaccinated, you must complete the online SUNY Vaccination Verification Application by logging into the form using your myDCC username and password. Contact the DCC IT Helpdesk at (845) 431-8005 if you have problems logging into this form.

5. Register for Classes

Log into your myDCC account and sign up for your class(es).

6. Make Payment Arrangements

After signing up for classes, be sure to make payment arrangements to secure your schedule. If you do not make any arrangement, you run the risk of being dropped from your class(es).

Information regarding payments is through our Student Financial Services Office and can be found here.

You should provide Proof of NYS/County Residency: All NYS residents are required to prove their residency to be charged in-state tuition. 

7. After You've Paid Your Bill...

If you are attending class on campus, get your DCC ID card and parking permit: Students may obtain these by bringing their schedule and photo ID to the Security Office (Room 114 – Student Services Center).

Email is the primary communication method at DCC. You may receive emails from different departments such as Registrars or Student Financial Services or from your teachers as well. To ensure that you do not miss any important information you should set up your email account and notification preferences on your phone. You can access the instructions on how to do so here.
