Inspire and challenge yourself through rigorous honors classes, leadership opportunities and enrichment experiences outside the classroom. The honors program welcomes students from all majors, as long as you meet the entrance requirements.

What You'll Study in Our Honors Minor Program
To earn an associate degree with a Minor in Honors Studies, you must complete the following in addition to the requirements of your academic major:
- A minimum of 15 honors credits that may or may not apply to your major program (at least one Honors course in each semester that you are in the program.)
- The 3-credit Honors capstone seminar.
Four upper-level courses from your major program to apply toward the Honors Minor. These may be "Honors" courses which would also apply toward the 12 credits of Honors courses.

LSS 100: Honors Studies Intro Seminar
Intro to college resources that emphasize critical thinking, campus leadership and
research techniques.
LSS 201: Honors Studies Capstone Seminar
Conduct and present independent research under careful supervision of your instructor.
You'll also have opportunities for learning through serving the community and travel. Honors students have traveled to Washington, D.C. and Europe. The D.C. trip is a capstone event for graduating honors students that includes visits to major museums.
Why Honors?
Individual academic advisement, smaller classes and intensive counseling will prepare you for transfer to competitive four-year institutions. DCC Honors students have transferred to Cornell University, NYU, Vassar College, Smith College as well as SUNY's more selective four-year campuses. Honors Studies students enrolled in A.A.S. programs will graduate with enhanced competitiveness for the workplace. A DCC Honors Studies graduate is an academically well-rounded as well as a civic-minded and globally conscious citizen.
What You'll Learn at DCC
The Minor in Honors Studies complements your major, so some learning outcomes may overlap with your curriculum. In addition, if you minor in Honors Studies, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate enhanced critical and analytical thinking skills.
- Recognize the value of diversity in our local, national, and global communities.
- Demonstrate a commitment to serve and sustain the local communities in which they live.
- Demonstrate the ability to approach political, social, economic, and scientific problems through inter-disciplinary approaches.
- Practice civic minded ethical and responsible citizenship.
- Understand and appreciate cultures other than your own.
