Born in Kingston, New York, Chris Gonyea received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and art history from the Pratt Institute. He also spent a semester at Studio Arts Center International, Florence, Italy.
Gonyea has exhibited widely throughout the Hudson Valley. One person shows have been held at Coffey Gallery, and Donskoj & Co., Kingston. He has also been included in group exhibitions at Barrett House Gallery, Poughkeepsie, and the Woodstock Artists Association, where we was awarded the Sidney Laufman Award for Best of Show.
He has curated exhibitions both independently and as owner of Kingston galleries The Loft and The Livingroom. He has served as cultural liaison to the City of Kingston and was curator of the Rondout Biennial.
Gonyea is a member of the Woodstock Artists Association, the Art Society of Kingston, and the Woodstock Guild.
