Dear Students,

Whether you’re here to learn new skills for the workforce or just beginning your educational journey, I would like to welcome you to Dutchess Community College and the start of a new academic year. And if you’re a returning student, welcome back!

We are committed to always improving DCC’s teaching and learning community. We spent the last year realigning the College to make student resources, like tutoring, opportunity programs, and student financial services more accessible and visible. Also, we work hard to make sure our education programs are of the highest standard while keeping costs low to provide you the most value for your educational dollar.

Not only do we strive to continue to be the best educational value in New York State, as part of DCC, you’re a member of a community that is diverse, inclusive, supportive, and fun. But most importantly, you’re part of a community of opportunity. At every turn you’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow. In addition to your classroom experiences, you could be involved in clubs, athletics, eSports, and other student activities. While you are here, I hope you’ll discover and take advantage of all the resources, both academic and social, that DCC has to offer – quick links to some of these resources are listed below.

Although Covid is still with us, the world is opening up again and we still need to be mindful of the health of our community, which now includes the new challenges of monkeypox and polio. So, as we start the fall semester, with in-person instruction, services and events, we will continue to follow health and safety guidelines as provided by federal, state and local officials. I encourage you to visit the webpages for our fall 2022 health and safety protocols and guidelines. Our success at remaining a safe and healthy campus community this fall relies on each of us doing our part. So, I encourage you to remain flexible, vigilant and to embrace these guidelines.

I look forward to working with you and your peers to ensure DCC continues to support your academic, career and personal success.

In closing, let me say how deeply honored I am to be a part of your community of opportunity, and wish you a safe, healthy, and transformative new academic year. I can’t wait to meet you at FalconFest next Tuesday and Wednesday – our annual welcome back celebration where you can connect with the DCC community to learn more about clubs, activities and resources while enjoying food, games and prizes – I hope to see you there.
