US premiere of Kat Sandler’s award-winning new play at SUNY Dutchess Black Box Theatre

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — APRIL 3, 2023 — “Mustard” will be staged April 6-8 by members of the Dutchess Community College Performing Arts program. The show will be directed by Program Chair Thomas B. Costello and features the work of 37 DCC students, both onstage and off. 

Show times for Thursday and Friday, April 6 and 7, are 8 p.m. Saturday show times, April 8, are 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. All performances will be held in SUNY Dutchess Black Box Theatre on DCC’s main Poughkeepsie campus.

Kat Sandler’s Dora Mavor Moore Award-winning play tells the story of an imaginary friend, Mustard, whose Person is a troubled teenager. The play is described by Playwrights Canada Press as: “A twisted fairy tale about friendship, love, growing up, moving on and finding magic where you least expect it, this darkly comedic bedtime story by Canadian theatre’s indie darling blurs imagination with reality in order to save a family from its own destruction.”
