A lecture and discussion about black leadership and capitalism, an evening of cultural dance and a gospel celebration are just a few of the activities Dutchess Community College is offering to mark Black History Month. All of the events will be held at DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus and are free and open to the public.

Timmian Massie, senior vice president for Marketing, Public Affairs and Government Relations at Health Quest, was named to the Dutchess Community College Board of Trustees at its December meeting. His term will expire in 2021.

The musical "Legally Blonde" will be staged Nov. 11-13 and 18-20 by members of the Dutchess Community College Performing Arts program and students in DCC's Masquers' Guild Theatre Club.

The annual College Fair hosted by Dutchess Community College will take place Oct. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Falcon Hall on the main DCC campus in Poughkeepsie. Registration is not required.

Dutchess Community College has joined a select group of community colleges in Achieving the Dream (ATD), a national reform network dedicated to improving student success. Participation in ATD, which includes more than 200 colleges, reflects DCC's continuing efforts to implement best practices that facilitate student retention and completion, especially for historically underrepresented populations.

Adults interested in expanding their career options can learn about Dutchess Community College's almost 60 associate degree programs and dozens of accelerated certificate offerings at an open house June 28 at 6 p.m. in room 122 of Bowne Hall on DCC's main campus.

Dutchess Community College Trustee Barbara Hugo was re-appointed to the board at its April 26 meeting. Her new term expires in 2022.

Early childhood caregivers can learn about becoming credentialed at an information session on May 17 at 6 p.m. at Dutchess Community College's Poughkeepsie campus, Taconic Hall, room 209. The two-semester, 12-credit Child Development Associate credentialing program will be held Tuesday evenings beginning in the fall.
