Telecommunications and Instructional Media

 

Welcome /Mission

 

The College has established the Telecommunications and Instructional Media Department in Room 130 of the Center for Business & Industry building for the purposes of:

  • facilitating faculty use of audio-visual methods and equipment in instruction including smart room technology;
  • providing Help Desk support services for faculty and staff for all technology related problems;
  • serving as an information resource center for students, faculty and staff by way of the television message channel, recorded announcements, and notifications through the telephone system;
  • contributing to the enrichment of the College's educational programs by encouraging an innovative and critical approach to teaching methods through the purchasing and use of media software;
  • providing telecommunications services such as telephone, voicemail and Local Area Network support to the College community;
  • providing for the systematic purchasing, installation and repair of the College’s computer and printer resources ;
  • providing for the installation and maintenance of campus security systems such as the security TV and card access systems.

This department reports to the Associate Dean of Information Technology within the organizational structure of the College.

As a service-oriented department, Telecommunications & Instructional Media supports the campus telecommunications infrastructure and the instructional technology needs of the academic departments and administrative offices.

In addition we offer broadcast and promotional services to the general public through LPTV Channel 42 and satelite conferencing.  Contact Peggy Noll at (845) 431-8940 for more information..
