John Zamierowski
My name is John Zamierowski and I am proud to be a student at Dutchess Community College. I am a little older than the traditional college student, but soon realized I wasn't alone.
I graduated from Spackenkill High School in 2004 and entered the workforce after graduation. Life was good until one morning when I got up for work and had trouble breathing. When the doctors told me I needed open heart surgery it made me look at life differently. My priorities suddenly came into focus, and I knew I couldn't put off my dream of a career in environmental science any more. DCC was exactly what I was looking for.
I'll admit, when I first came to DCC I felt like an outsider, but that soon changed when I joined the Outdoor Adventure Club and started becoming more involved. The more time I spent here, the more DCC became my home. Now I am the President of the Student Government Association and I am surrounded with wonderful people of all ages and backgrounds who share the same ideals and principles that I now hold close to my heart. DCC is the right choice for me and I'm sure it will be the right choice for you.
