Frequently Asked Questions Is there a limited number of guests who can attend? No. Since our ceremony is outside, there is not a limit on the number of guests. If, however, we need to move the ceremony inside because of severe weather conditions, you have been given two rain admission tickets. These will be needed by your two guests to enter Falcon Hall.
How long will commencement last? Approximately two hours. Must I stay for the entire ceremony? YES. The College has made every attempt to consolidate the length of the ceremony by shortening speeches and providing a constant flow of candidates as they walk across the stage. Therefore, as a courtesy to your fellow candidates and other guests, we ask that you return to your seat and remain there until the conclusion of the program. Can I participate in the ceremony even though I will not complete my degree requirements until the summer semester? YES. If you have completed a graduation application for August graduation, you may participate in commencement. You must also complete the Permission to Participate form with the Dean of Student Services Office and register for your summer course(s). NOTE: Your name will not appear in the commencement program until the following year. If I find I have received the wrong tassel, my gown or cap doesn’t fit properly, or I need another tassel can I get this done? YES. You may go to the cap and gown room the day of commencement after 1:00 p.m., (Falcon Hall, Room102) and ask for assistance. Will there be a place that I can leave my personal belongings during the ceremony? NO. It is best to leave your personal belongings with a friend or family member. I forgot to pick up my cap and gown – when can I get it and where? You may pick it up on Thursday, May 15th after 1:00 p.m. in Falcon Hall, Room 102. Will my guests need an invitation to attend the ceremony? NO. The announcements you receive in your packet are precisely that, an announcement. Your guests will ONLY need the rain admission ticket if the ceremony has been moved inside Falcon Hall. DIPLOMAS: A DIPLOMA COVER WILL BE PRESENT TO THE GRADUATE. YOUR DIPLOMA WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE BEGINNING MEMORIAL DAY WEEK. THOSE NOT PICKED UP DURING THAT WEEK WILL BE SENT TO THE ADDRESS LISTED ON YOUR GRADUATION APPLICATION.
