The primary function of the office is to plan and implement student activities. To do this most effectively, and to reach as many students as possible, the office produces an activities brochure every semester. All students enrolled in credit bearing classes will automatically receive one in the mail during the first or second week of classes. It contains detailed descriptions of nearly all the the events sponsored by the Student Activities Office each semester.

This is a list of some of our most popular events/trips:
(unless otherwise noted, these trips are limited to DCC Students and their guests, thank you.)

  • Night at the Movies
  • New York City Trip
  • Friday Night Films
  • Sports Trips
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Bronx Zoo

    Night at the Movies

What's a better way to relax from your studies or to enjoy a free evening than sitting in a theater watching new releases at the Roosevelt Theater in Hyde Park or the Lyceum Theater in Red Hook. Supplies of these tickets are limited, so make sure you stop in early and often during the semester!!

    New York City Trip

Want to check out the Hayden Planetarium, explore the Museum of Natural History, or maybe just hit 5th Avenue for a little "light" shopping? Well, here's your chance!! You can do one, all three, or just spend the day exploring the city, the choice is yours. Usually, there are two NYC trips per semester, one that drops off in the museum district and one that stops in the shopping district. Price per ticket includes round trip transportation, but not admission to any of the the sights (museums, theaters, etc.).

    Friday Night Films

Nearly every Friday night of each semester, the Dutchess Hall Theater plays host to a FREE showing of a current box office release. We do our best to pick the films you want to see. So, if you loved it the first time, or you missed the first time through, stop by on Friday nights and check it out!! Films are free and open to the public.

    Sports Trips

Have you ever wanted to see a Knicks game at the Garden, but didn't want to deal with hassle of driving in Manhattan or were a little skeptical about dealing with Grand Central Station after a night game? Well, here's your chance to do that and a lot more. Each semester we plan at least two, often three sports trips. Usually these include Nets games, Knicks games, Yankees games, and Mets games. Trips vary from one semester to the next, so keep a sharp eye out!

    Easter Egg Hunt

Talk about Popular, WOW! Every Spring, right around Easter time ( of course! ) a force of epic proportions hits DCC: lots of little children scrambling to find lots of candy strewn across the DCC campus Unfortunately, because of the popularity of this event, early registration is required and we must limit its enrollment to the Children of DCC Students and Staff.

    Bronx Zoo

Our Bronx Zoo trip is among the all time leaders in family fun. There are few better ways to enjoy a day with your family than by walking around the Bronx Zoo and enjoying the animals and all the exhibits. Price includes round trip transportation and admittance to the park.
