George Bernstein Memorial Scholarship

One award of $825

George Bernstein was associated with the Poughkeepsie Journal for most of his professional career, serving as a reporter, city editor, and business editor. His friends and colleagues established a scholarship fund in his memory, to be awarded to a full-time, second-year student enrolled in DCC’s communications and media arts program.


The Clarence J. "Woody" Ferrier Theatre Scholarship

One award of $500

Talented in virtually all aspects of community theatre, this scholarship is established to honor Mr. Ferrier's dedication to the craft. At age 66, he achieved his own associates degree in performing arts with honors. As a nontraditional student, he joyfully dedicated himself to the theatre. This scholarship is awarded to someone like himself. Given to a nontraditional full- or part-time student with at least a 3.0 CPA, this award will celebrate one aspect of the creative process of theatre. Preference is given to a student who has financial need.


Dutchess Heritage Quilters Scholarship

One award of $1,200
This organization sponsors and hosts an outstanding quilt exhibition at Dutchess Community College every other year. The Dutchess Heritage Quilters Scholarship is awarded to a full-time, non-traditional student.


Harold Hayward Memorial Scholarship

One award of $500
Established by Dorothy Hayward and her family, this scholarship is named in memory of her husband, noted local engineer Harold Hayward. Created to honor Mr. Hayward's love of amateur theater, this scholarship is awarded to a student matriculated in the performing arts program who has been an active participant in some phase of a live theater production. The recipient must be a full-time student with 24 or more credits who has achieved at least a 3.00 GPA.


Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union

One award of $500

As an organization dedicated to helping the local community, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union established this scholarship to help local students attend DCC. It is awarded to a full-or part-time second-year student who is academically motivated and pursuing a degree in communications.


Peter Klose Memorial Scholarship

One award of $500
This scholarship was created by friends and colleagues of Peter Klose, and fully endowed by his daughter, Erika Hammar-Klose, to memorialize Peter's many contributions as a member of the DCC Visual Arts faculty. It is awarded to a full-time, second-year student who has taken at least one photography course.


Karen Lee Knapp Memorial Scholarship

One award of $500
Karen Lee Knapp, an alumnus of DCC, was an exceptional graphic artist. Her talents were expressed in many College publications, particularly the artwork and materials used to promote the Petrovits Pine Grove Patio project. Her family and friends established this scholarship in her memory. It is awarded to a full-time, second-year student studying commercial art who has achieved at least a 2.75 GPA.


JTN Scholarship

One award of $1,000

The JTN Scholarship is awarded to a student who attended either John Jay orRoy C. Ketcham High Schools and is a second year full-time student at DCC interested in the arts or theatre. Preference is given to students with a financial need.

 


Lynette McKinney Memorial Scholarship

One award of $700
This scholarship was created by the husband of Lynette McKinney to memorialize her many contributions as a member of the DCC visual arts faculty. It is awarded to a student with 24 or more credits with at least a 3.00 GPA.


Laura Lucille Staats Memorial Scholarship

One award of $750
This scholarship was established to honor Laura Lucille Staats,  a non-traditional graduate who was interested in art. It is awarded to a full-time, non-traditional student who is a Dutchess County resident, enrolled in commercial art or a related field.


McCann Foundation Scholarship

One award of $900
The McCann Foundation was established by James J. McCann, a local feed and grain dealer. Grants are given each year by the Foundation for community service, recreation, religion, arts, engineering, technology, and education. The McCann Foundation Scholarship is awarded to a full-time, second-year student who is a Dutchess County resident.


 

The Edwin A. Ulrich Charitable Trust Scholarship

Three awards of $1,000

The Ulrich Charitable Trust of Hyde Park funds three scholarships for second-year students in the performing, visual arts, and communications.The Ulrich Charitable Trust, in keeping with the wishes of Edwin A. Ulrich, provides this funding for art, music, theater, and communications students.
