Scholarship Criteria Definitions

Scholarship Criteria for January, May or August 2008 Graduating Students

 

Graduating Students: Students who are graduating in May or August of 2008 are eligible to apply only for graduate scholarships. A graduating student must complete all degree requirements in January, May or August 2008 and must transfer to another college or university for Fall 2008.

Scholarship awards will be sent directly to the transfer college.

Scholarship Criteria for Students Returning to DCC for the Fall 2008 Semester

Full-time (FT): A student is considered full-time when he/she is registered for 12 credits or more for the Fall 2008 Semester and Spring 2009 Semester.

Part-time (PT): A student is considered part-time when he/she is matriculated and registered for 11 credits or less for the Fall 2008 Semester.

2nd-year Student: A student who has completed 24 or more college credits as of May 2008 and enrolled at DCC for the 2008-2009 academic year is considered to be a 2nd-year student.

Non-Traditional: To be considered non-traditional, a student must have reached the age of 25 by January 1, 2008 and be enrolled at DCC for the 2008-2009 academic year.

All scholarship applications must be returned by March 7, 2008 to the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management (Orcutt Student Services Center, Room 304). Scholarship awards may be used only for tuition, fees, books, and educational expenses and will be used for the 2008-2009 academic year. Awards over $750 will be distributed equally over the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters unless the student will be graduating in January 2009.

The appropriate academic department, the DCC Scholarship Committee or other standing college committee selects winners of Special, Academic, and Graduate Scholarships. Students selected to receive a scholarship will be notified by mail during the week of May 5, 2008.
