February 6, 2014 – Dutchess Community College students, faculty and staff members will stage a reading of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play “The Vagina Monologues” on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus. There is no charge for admission, but cash donations will be accepted for the Grace Smith House, a local nonprofit agency providing services to victims of domestic violence.
The reading is being held to mark V-Day, a global movement featuring widespread benefit performances to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups. V-Day founder Ensler interviewed more than 200 women before creating “The Vagina Monologues,” which celebrates women’s strength and sexuality.
The performance is being presented by the Association of Women at DCC, the Women’s Activities Committee and the Masquers’ Guild performance troupe. A reception with refreshments will follow the show. The play contains adult content.
