November 9, 2010 – Members of the Dutchess Community College Performing Arts program will join with students in DCC’s Masquer’s Guild performance troupe to present a production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” from Nov. 18-21. The musical comedy was on Broadway in 2005, and won two Tony awards.
Show times are 8 p.m. for Nov. 18-20, and 2 p.m. for Nov. 21. All performances will be held in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on DCC’s main Poughkeepsie campus.
The show tells the story of six young people vying against one another for a spelling championship. As the competition gets more intense, each begins to question their previously held notions of winning and losing.
The production is directed by Blair Wing with musical direction by TJ Giannetta and choreography by Grace Obee in collaboration with Kevin Edwards.
Tickets will be available at the door 30 minutes before each performance. General admission is $10, senior citizens and students from other schools are $5 and DCC students are free.
