July 18, 2013 – The annual Sing-a-Thon/Play-a-Thon hosted by the Music School at Dutchess Community College will be held Saturday, Aug. 3 from 2-5 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on the main DCC campus in Poughkeepsie. Set to open the show is the D’amby Project, an Irish step-dance group.
The event – at which DCC students, faculty and community members perform – benefits the MusicLink Scholarship Fund, which provides free or low-cost music lessons to local students who otherwise could not afford them. While attendance is free, donations to MusicLink will gladly be accepted at the door.
Spaces are still available for members of the community to perform. Those interested in being part of the show, or who want to sponsor a performer or get more information, can contact Music School Director Julie Wegener at (845) 431-8916 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
MusicLink has sponsored more than 70 students ranging in age from infancy to age 20 since the program’s inception in 2000. In addition to fundraisers such as the Sing-a-Thon/Play-a-Thon, MusicLink receives funding from long-time DCC benefactor Allyn J. Washington, The Bentley Fund and the Kanter Kallman Foundation.
