Expert on Qatar to Lecture at DCC

April 19, 2013 – Diana Untermeyer, wife of former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar Chase Untermeyer, will give a lecture at Dutchess Community College about Qatar’s culture, history and journey into modernity on April 29 at 7 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus. The country’s natural gas wealth and strategic location make the small nation a rising political and economic power.

The Untermeyers lived in Doha, Qatar’s capital city, from 2004 to 2007, and their experiences are chronicled in Diana Untermeyer’s 2012 book, “Qatar: Sand, Sea and Sky.”

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the World Affairs Councils of America, together with the World Affairs Council of the Mid-Hudson Valley and the DCC History, Government and Economics Department.
