Art Gallery Exhibit Spotlights Women's History Month

March 18, 2011 – The exhibit currently featured at DCC’s Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery is called “Place,” a collection of paintings, sculptures and installations by Caroline Kent, Shona Macdonald and Emily Puthoff. The three artists have teamed up for the exhibit as part of DCC’s celebration of Women’s History Month. The exhibit will run through April 15.

With location as the theme, the works will include large shaped paintings, collages and experimental mixed-media installations. The subject matter ranges from geology, architecture and graffiti, to identity, memory and psyche.

The gallery is in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gallery openings and exhibits are free and open to the public.
