Vocalist to Perform at DCC Music School Recital

June 21, 2012 – Katherine DeFiglio, a soprano vocalist and instructor at the Music School at Dutchess Community College, will perform selections of Italian songs and arias during a recital on Saturday, July 7 at 5 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus.

Pieces will include “O mio babbino caro” by Giacomo Puccini, “Quella fiamma” by Benedetto Marcello and many others. DeFiglio will be accompanied on some selections by pianist Joel Flowers, tenor John Stanton and flautist Karen Zocchi.

DeFiglio has performed extensively throughout the Hudson Valley in venues such as County Players at the Falls Theatre, the Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck, Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center and the Bardavon as well as other locations in the U.S. and Europe. Originally from Poughkeepsie, she earned a master's degree in vocal performance from the University of Miami. Currently she teaches private voice lessons, group singing classes and Kindermusik at DCC.

Admission is free. Donations to the MusicLink Scholarship Fund, which provides free or low-cost music lessons to students who otherwise could not afford them, will be accepted at the door.
