Free Music Event to Feature Instrument Sampling and Concert

August 16, 2011 – The Music School at DCC will host Music Exploration Saturday on Sept. 3 from 1-3 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on the College’s Poughkeepsie campus. The free event is an opportunity for children and adults to sample instruments, audition for ensembles and enjoy a concert featuring Music School faculty members.

The Music School at DCC is part of the College’s Office of Community Services and has offered non-credit music education since 1972.

Trial lessons will allow potential students of all ages to sample various musical instruments, and auditions will be held for a chamber music group and jazz ensemble. In addition, parents and children can enjoy a Kindermusik demonstration.

The faculty concert at 3:30 will feature the duo of cellist So Sugiyama and pianist Jeffrey Brown, who will perform Beethoven Variations for Cello and Piano in E flat major on Mozart’s “Bei Mannern,” and Brahms Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 2 in F major.
