Students to Stage "Kiss Me, Kate"

November 4, 2011 – Members of the Dutchess Community College Performing Arts program will join with students in DCC’s Masquers’ Guild performance troupe to present a production of “Kiss Me, Kate” from Nov. 17-20.

Show times are 8 p.m. for Nov. 17-19, and 2 p.m. for Nov. 20. All performances will be held in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on DCC’s main Poughkeepsie campus.

The musical is a play within a play that chronicles the interactions of performers in a production of William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.” It features lyrics and music by Cole Porter, including favorite tunes such as “Another Op’nin’, Another Show,” “So In Love” and “Tom, Dick or Harry.”

DCC’s production is directed by Professor of Theater Steve Press with musical direction by Music Program Chair Dr. Christopher Brellochs, vocal direction by Elizabeth Gerbi and choreography by Grace Obee.

Tickets will be available at the door 30 minutes before each performance. General admission is $10, senior citizens and DCC students are $5.
