May 6, 2011 –The Music School at Dutchess Community College will offer Kindermusik and Chamber-Music programs at the North East Community Center in Millerton this summer.
Kindermusik is a program for children up to age 5 that teaches fundamentals of rhythm and movement that can provide a basis for a lifelong love of music and future instrumental or vocal study. Classes will be divided into three sections: birth through 18months, 18 months through 3 years and 3 to 5 years. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from July 5 through Aug. 2 at 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, with tuition of $90, $100 and $115 for the five weeks.
Chamber music is a form of classical music that is performed by a small group of instrumentalists. All ages are welcome. Duos, trios and quartets will be formed and will meet for six sessions to be scheduled at the convenience of participants. Fee is $150.
The Music School at DCC is part of the College’s Office of Community Services and has offered non-credit music education since 1972.
