April 16, 2013 – The Dutchess Community College Jazz Ensemble will perform as the opening act for a concert featuring three nationally recognized acoustic guitarists. The show will be held April 30 at 7 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus.
The Jazz Ensemble will play the music of Miles Davis, George Gershwin, Horace Silver and Herbie Hancock. Then, guitarists Mark Sganga, Brian Henke and Helen Avakian will take the stage individually and also as a trio.
Sganga is an international finger-style guitar champion, Henke is a harp guitar shaman and Avakian is an award-winning singer and songwriter, as well as a guitar instructor for the Music School at DCC.
