May 13, 2015 – Dutchess United Educators (DUE), the teachers union of Dutchess Community College, honored 37 students for academic achievement at the 30th Annual DUE Awards for Academic Excellence on May 6.
Twenty-four students were nominated by professors for individual DUE Awards, while 13 others received special awards, which are given by entire academic departments or in honor of past DCC faculty and staff members.
The 24 individual award winners were: Christopher Badroe (Pleasant Valley), Megan Bender (Hopewell Junction), Andrea Bialosuknia (Hyde Park), Lauren Boston (Wappingers Falls), Kelly Brophy (Hyde Park), Tashoy Brown (Poughkeepsie), Songhwa Emily Choi (Elmhurst), Lauren Croke (Hopewell Junction), Daniel Doscher (Poughkeepsie), Arjeta Gashi, (Hopewell Junction), Andre Gjini (Poughkeepsie), Felicia Kirschner (Poughkeepsie), Letti Kittel (Poughkeepsie), Wen Zhen Lin (Dover Plains), Timothy McCoy (Pleasant Valley), William Murphy (Hopewell Junction), Adele Overbey (Poughkeepsie), Abidemi Oyelade (Poughkeepsie), Aamir Porter (Poughkeepsie), Colin Priest (Poughkeepsie), Alicia Robinson (Poughkeepsie), Alexandria Seymour (Red Hook), John Shaughnessy (Millbrook) and Jacob Shultis (Poughkeepsie).
Special awards went to: Emily Avis (Red Hook), Paul Christian (New Paltz), Jessica Gariolo, (Wappingers Falls), Daria Hanssen (Wingdale), Cheryl Hoffman (Poughkeepsie), Wendi Huff (Staatsburg), Edward Kiewra (Verbank), Zoe Kozma (Poughkeepsie), Caleb Lococo (Red Hook), Lucy Oakes (Beacon), Alexandria Prashad (Lagrangeville), Brianna Saltsman (Stormville) and Matthew Velardo (Poughkeepsie).
In addition, soon-to-retire DCC faculty members John Falabella and Ellen Wild and staff member Carl Marchese were presented with honorary awards recognizing their career-long contributions to academic excellence at DCC.
