December 2, 2014 – A wide variety of musical selections will be performed throughout December during four concerts scheduled at Dutchess Community College’s Poughkeepsie campus.
The Guitar Consort and Jazz Ensemble will perform on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m., the Winter Choral Concert is set for Dec. 4 at 12:30 p.m., the Mid-Hudson Community Orchestra show is Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. and the Student Recital is Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.
All shows are free and open to the public and will take place in the James and Betty Hall Theatre. A reception will follow each show.
The DCC Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Christopher Brellochs, and Guitar Consort, directed by Steve Raleigh, will perform a varied program of classical and jazz styles. The DCC Winter Choral Concert will feature the DCC Chorus, conducted by Ann Foster, performing classical selections in addition to solo pieces sung by music students. The Mid-Hudson Community Orchestra will perform masterworks from classical orchestra repertoire. The last concert will feature students of voice, piano, saxophone, guitar and more who will perform selections in a wide variety of styles from classical to jazz to musical theater.
