November 24, 2010 – Musical selections varying from holiday favorites to contemporary and popular works will be performed throughout December during four concerts scheduled at Dutchess Community College.
All shows are free and will be held in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus.
The Guitar Consort and Jazz Ensemble show will be held Dec. 7 at 7 p.m., the Winter Choral Concert is set for Dec. 9 at 12:30 p.m., the Mid-Hudson Community Orchestra show is Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and the Student Recital is Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.
The DCC Jazz Ensemble and Guitar Consort will perform instrumental works including classical, contemporary and popular pieces, all directed by Dr. Christopher Brellochs and Jeffrey Armstrong. The DCC Winter Choral Concert will feature the DCC Chorus and Madrigal singers, conducted by Elizabeth Gerbi, and will include performances of classic holiday and sacred music. The Mid-Hudson Community Orchestra will perform pieces by world-famous composers as well as holiday favorites. The last concert will feature students of voice, piano, saxophone, guitar and more who will perform selections in a wide variety of styles from classical to jazz to musical theater.
