March 20, 2014 –Dr. Michael Brenner, a professor of Judaic Studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich, will deliver a lecture at Dutchess Community College called “In the Shadow of the Holocaust: Jewish Life in Contemporary Germany” on April 8 at 6:30 p.m. in Bowne Hall, room 122 on DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus.
Brenner will discuss that country’s fast-growing Jewish diaspora community that began with Holocaust survivors taking refuge in Germany’s American Zone and continued with an influx of Jews from the former Soviet Union following the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Brenner also is the Lillian Abensohn Chair in Israel Studies and director of the Center for Israel Studies at American University in Washington, D.C.
