October 12, 2012 – The 2012 DCC Student Government Bowl-a-Thon will be held on Nov. 4 from 2-5 p.m. at Mardi-Bob Lanes in Poughkeepsie. Those interested in forming a five-person-team and bowling to help raise funds to support DCC students in need still can do so.
Money raised at the event will go toward the Students for Students Emergency Fund, which was created by the DCC Student Government Association to provide emergency assistance to cover unexpected transportation, food or medical expenses for students in need who currently are enrolled in DCC credit courses. The initiative has just been recognized with an award from the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Entrance fee is $50 per five-person team, and bowlers are urged to obtain pledges from others to help support the cause. The theme for the 2012 Bowl-a-Thon is “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work,” and participants are encouraged to dress in the gear of their favorite sports team.
The registration form can be found here. It can be printed, filled out and included with registration payment by check and sent to Student Activities, Dutchess Community College, 53 Pendell Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Registration and payment are due by Oct. 26.
