April 11, 2017 – A 100-piece exhibit of artwork created by five artists will be on display in Dutchess Community College’s Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery through May 12.
The genesis of the show, titled “Receive – Respond – Release,” happened in 2015 when each of the five artists created four pieces, mailing one to each of the other four. The artists then created more pieces in response to the work they received from their peers. The process of receipt, response and exchange continued through the beginning of 2017, resulting in 20 pathways of exchange and 100 pieces.
The participating artists are Melanie Klein and Leigh Williams, DCC faculty members, along with local artists Dorothy Albertini, Jeep Johnson and Jeff Johnson.
The gallery is in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art on DCC’s main Poughkeepsie campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors should park in Lot D on Cottage Road.
