DCC to Offer Free Theater Audition Workshop for HS Juniors and Seniors

August 21, 2013 – Local high school juniors and seniors interested in getting an edge during auditions for high school, community, college or professional theater roles can attend a free “Ace Your Audition” workshop on Sept. 21 from 1-4 p.m. at Dutchess Community College.

The program will be led by DCC’s experienced performing arts faculty, who will give students insider tips on singing, dancing or acting that will help them elevate their performance and stand out from the competition. Joe Cosentino, the head of DCC’s Performing, Visual Arts and Communications department, is directing the workshop. Cosentino has extensive professional experience as an actor in many off-Broadway plays, films, television shows and national commercials, and also is a playwright.

Participants should be prepared to perform a one-minute monologue from a play and a song from a Broadway show tune. Scenes and sheet music for cold readings also will be available at the workshop.

Interested students must register by emailing their name, address, telephone number and high school name to cosentin@sunydutchess.edu. More information can be obtained by calling (845) 431-8610.
