October 7, 2013 – An exhibit called 100 Artists/100 Dreams is on display in Dutchess Community College’s Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery now through Nov. 1.
The 100 Artists/100 Dreams project is a long-term initiative that explores the recurring or creative dreams of artists and what those dreams say about society. Seventeen pieces from the fine art component of the project, which include sculpture, installation, paintings and photography, will be shown in the gallery.
In addition to the current exhibit, a film component of the initiative debuted in 2011 and an interactive installation is scheduled to be completed in 2014. The project is curated by Sadee Brathwaite of La Leona Arts, an art advocacy organization that hosts exhibitions, networking events and provides consulting.
An opening reception for the exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will be held Oct. 9 at 5 p.m.
The gallery is in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art on DCC’s main Poughkeepsie campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
