DCC to Host Sports Medicine Workshop Release date: April 24, 2008
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) will present a workshop at Dutchess Community College from May 2-4 in Falcon Hall on DCC’s main campus in Poughkeepsie. DCC Exercise Science and Wellness students, as well as members of the community, can register for the program and receive their certification in personal training. The workshop will be held from 1 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The next workshop is scheduled for December, and will be held bi-annually thereafter. ACSM is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world, with more than 20,000 certified international, national, and regional chapter members. Founded in 1957, Dutchess Community College is a two-year community college celebrating its 50th anniversary of excellence and service to the residents of Dutchess County. It is part of the State University of New York and is one of 30 community colleges in the state system. The College offers a wide variety of associate degree programs, as well as career programs in major technical, human service and business areas. The College also offers non-credit courses through its Office of Community Services to meet the continuing education needs of civic, cultural, business and professional groups and the community at large. The main campus is at 53 Pendell Road in Poughkeepsie, while the Dutchess South extension site is in Hollowbrook Park, Building #4 at 31 Marshall Road in Wappingers Falls. -30-
