DCC Art Exhibit to Feature Works Inspired by Poetry Release date: April 2, 2008
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery is hosting an art exhibit titled “Dialogues: Poetry and the Visual Response,” which will be open to the public until April 25. Works will include prints, ceramics, photography, sculpture, and more. Each artist highlighted the symbiotic relationship between visual art and poetry by responding to poem passages with varying media and approaches. Artists whose pieces will be featured include Fran Bull, Laura Hammond Toonkel, Melanie Klein, Nils Kulleseid, Charles Mosco, Lynn Palumbo, Eric Somers, Joy Taylor, Leigh Williams, Elizabeth Winchester, Anita Antonetty, Laura Cantor, Alejandra Delfin, and Amy DiGi. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. The Gallery is in the Allyn J. Founded in 1957, Dutchess Community College is a two-year community college celebrating its 50th anniversary of excellence and service to the residents of Dutchess County. It is part of the State University of New York and is one of 30 community colleges in the state system. The College offers a wide variety of associate degree programs, as well as career programs in major technical, human service and business areas. The College also offers non-credit courses through its Office of Community Services to meet the continuing education needs of civic, cultural, business and professional groups and the community at large.
