DCC Music School Faculty Concert to Benefit MusicLink Scholarship Fund

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Members of the Dutchess Community College Music School faculty will come together on April 12 for a concert to benefit the MusicLink Scholarship Fund, an initiative that provides free or low-cost music lessons to students who otherwise could not afford them.

The concert will take place at 4 p.m. in the Ritz Lounge in Dutchess Hall on DCC’s main campus in Poughkeepsie.

Mendelssohn’s “Trio in D Minor” will be performed by Kumiko Imamura, Alex Tokatlyan, and Alicia Skrabut. Other classical pieces to be played are Marcello’s “Adagio,” to be performed by Richard Devens, and Massenet’s “Meditation,” to be performed by Nettie West and Kumiko Imamura.

John Larotonda will perform rock guitarist Joe Satriani’s “Flying in a Blue Dream,” while folk guitarist and vocalist Bob Lusk will play “Hudson River Rolling On” by Ken Gonyea and “I Walk the Road Again” by Jehila “Pat” Edwards. Vocalist Maura Ellyn will also perform.

Admission to the concert is free, though donations to the MusicLink fund will be accepted. For more information, call DCC Music School Director Julie Wegener at 845-431-8916.

Founded in 1957, Dutchess Community College is a two-year community college celebrating its 50th anniversary of excellence and service to the residents of Dutchess County. It is part of the State University of New York and is one of 30 community colleges in the state system. The College offers a wide variety of associate degree programs, as well as career programs in major technical, human service and business areas. The College also offers non-credit courses through its Office of Community Services to meet the continuing education needs of civic, cultural, business and professional groups and the community at large. The main campus is at 53 Pendell Road in Poughkeepsie, while the Dutchess South extension site is in Hollowbrook Park, Building #4 at 31 Marshall Road in Wappingers Falls.
