Work of High School Art Teachers to be Featured in DCC Art Exhibit Release date: May 7, 2008
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Dutchess Community College’s Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery will host a display of art by local high school teachers from May 12 through June 13, 2008. “Teachers as Artists” will include work by George Baker, Ted Braggins, Joshua Brehse, Randi Chalfin, Sue Chlystun, Claudine Farley-Davis, Sharmon Fitchett, Karen Harris, Roxanne Johnson, Bridget Mahoney, Al Massa, Ed Meyer, Diane Mikula, Gina Palmer, Marla Rohwer, Rita Ross, Adrienne Schorr, Goldy Safirstein, Michael Spross, and Sali Wohlbach. Schools represented include Millbrook High School, Roy C. Ketcham High School, Stissing Mountain High School, Poughkeepsie High School, Arlington High School, The Randolph School, Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, Beacon High School, Our Lady of Lourdes High School, and Oakwood Friends School. An opening reception will be held in the gallery on May 19 from 5-6:30 p.m. The gallery is in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art on DCC’s main campus in Poughkeepsie. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. Founded in 1957, Dutchess Community College is a two-year community college celebrating its 50th anniversary of excellence and service to the residents of Dutchess County. It is part of the State University of New York and is one of 30 community colleges in the state system. The College offers a wide variety of associate degree programs, as well as career programs in major technical, human service and business areas. The College also offers non-credit courses through its Office of Community Services to meet the continuing education needs of civic, cultural, business and professional groups and the community at large. The main campus is at 53 Pendell Road in Poughkeepsie, while the Dutchess South extension site is in Hollowbrook Park, Building #4 at 31 Marshall Road in Wappingers Falls.
