First Head of DCC Business Department, Former Marist CFO to Speak at DCC Graduation Release date: May 2, 2008
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Anthony Krzywicki, who in 1959 became the first head of the Dutchess Community College Business Department, and Anthony V. Campilii, the retired vice president of Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer of Marist College, will speak at DCC’s commencement ceremony on May 15 at 6 p.m. Krzywicki, who came to DCC in 1958 to run the business department and develop the college bookstore, was one of the College’s founding faculty members. In 1959 he became the first head of the department. He is credited with developing the first business programs at DCC, as well as teaching most of the early courses in general business, retailing, and secretarial science. He retired in 1986. Krzywicki has a master’s degree in Business Education from Columbia University, and was formerly a professor at Bucknell University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Campilii graduated from DCC in 1960 with an A.A.S. in Business Administration and from Marist College in 1962 with a B.A. in Business Administration. He returned to Marist and earned his M.B.A. in 1979. He is the former president and a current member of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. Other professional affiliations have included the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers, the College/University Personnel Association, and the Business Council of New York State. Founded in 1957, Dutchess Community College is a two-year community college celebrating its 50th anniversary of excellence and service to the residents of Dutchess County. It is part of the State University of New York and is one of 30 community colleges in the state system. The College offers a wide variety of associate degree programs, as well as career programs in major technical, human service and business areas. The College also offers non-credit courses through its Office of Community Services to meet the continuing education needs of civic, cultural, business and professional groups and the community at large. The main campus is at 53 Pendell Road in Poughkeepsie, while the Dutchess South extension site is in Hollowbrook Park, Building #4 at 31 Marshall Road in Wappingers Falls.
