Laughing Stock: The Masquer’sGuild presents this hilarious comedy by Charles Morey directed by adjunct instructor Rita Carver. The uproariously funny script explores the antics of summer-stock theater complete with a wild cast of characters, backstage snafus, and of course the romances that inevitably spring up during tense times where an old barn serves as performing space, rehearsal hall, and scene shop rolled into one. Admission is $5, free for DCC students. For information visit www.masquersguild.com Tuesday, March Thursday, March 22, 7:30 p.m., James and Betty Hall Theater, XM Radio Show Live On Stage: The DCC Communications and Media Arts Program COM250 class with Dana Dorrity presents Radio personalities and voice impressionists, Joe Bevilacqua and Lorie Kellogg of XM radio’s Comedy-O-Rama. The pair will be recording “Fibber McGee and Molly in The House of Wax” and “Duffy’s Tavern,” two half hour episodes for their “New Old-Time Radio Hour” which will air as a special on Laugh USA and as well as on their Comedy-O-Rama show. The shows, with material appropriate for all ages, will feature a full sound effects table and a live band on stage as well as five radio actors. Bevilacqua and Kellogg have worked in radio for many years and recently gained the rights to recreate old-time style radio shows using well-known radio characters like Jack Benny and Fibber McGee. Younger audiences will recognize many of these voices, because the radio voice actors eventually went to work creating the voices for Warner Brothers cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, Droopy Dog, Rocky the Squirrel and Foghorn Leghorn. Students at Dutchess Community College will be shooting this live-style recording for broadcast on Channel 42. Admission is free. For information, contact Dana Dorrity at (845) 431-8612.
