<DCC Offers Pre-Season Training in Youth Baseball, Softball>

Dutchess Community College is offering pre-season training in youth baseball and softball in January and February through a collaboration between the DCC Office of Community Services and the College’s Falcons athletic program. Deadline for registration for both programs is January 7, 2007. For registration, call DCC’s Office of Community Services at (845) 431-8910.

DCC’s youth baseball and softball programs provide a comprehensive instructional approach emphasizing active participation in a risk free-environment, as well as development of mechanics in the areas of hitting, fielding, pitching, catching, base running, and the essentials of team play. Players of all levels are welcome. Parents are welcome to observe all activities and participate in instructional lectures and clinics. Each session will have a Coaches’ Corner where a specific aspect of the game will be covered from a coaching perspective.

The Falcon Hall gymnasium will be the central location for all workout activities. This area provides space for three live hitting stations; batting tee and soft toss instructional areas; floors space for base running, fielding, pitching and catching; classrooms for videotape presentations; and full-mirrored aerobic studio for visualization training.

Falcons Baseball 14th Annual Falcons Pre-Season Baseball Training Academy will be held under the direction of DCC Head Coach Steve Greller, and Assistant Coaches Bob Hoffmann, Matt Paquet, and Tom Hubmaster. Six, two-hour sessions will be provided for Little League players, ages six through 12. There are two sections to choose from on Sundays, January 14 through February 18 – 12:00-2:00 p.m. or 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. There will also be six, two-hour sessions for ages 13-18 on Sundays, January 14 through February 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The tuition of $125 includes a Falcons Academy shirt, instructional materials, and participation awards. Enrollment is limited to 50 people per section, so register early. For information on the program, call Matt Paquet at (845) 431-8000 ext 3590.

The Fourth Annual Lady Falcons Pre-Season Softball Training Academy will be held under the direction of DCC Head Coach Ken Swart and Assistant Coach Chris Rea. Six, three-hour sessions will be provided for players ages 7-18 on Sundays, January 21 through February 25, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Tuition of $120 includes a Falcons Academy shirt, instructional materials, and participation awards. For more information, contact Coach Swart at (845) 241-4847.
