DCC Announces May Events Release Date May 12, 2007 Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – May events at Dutchess Community College range from concerts to convocation. Tuesday, May 1, 7:00 p.m., Dutchess Hall Theater Spring Instrumental Concert: featuring the Guitar Consort under the direction of Jeff Armstrong, the Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Lou Pappas, plus instrumental soloists. Wednesday, May 2, 4:00 p.m., James and Betty Hall Theatre, Dutchess Hall DUE Awards for Academic Excellence Dutchess United Educators, DCC’s professional staff union, present awards to outstanding students who have excelled academically and contributed to the fabric of the College community. Wednesday, May 2, COM Show 7:30 p.m., Dutchess Hall Theater DCC COM Show, featuring the finest work from of DCC’s Communications and Media Arts Students in the spring semester, including short fictional pieces produced by both basic and advanced video production classes, special effects, audio production, and trailers for the half-hour, broadcast-quality documentaries produced by the students in “Learning in Progress.” Admission is free. Mid-Hudson Community Orchestra - Spring Concert: This College-Community ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Laura Ramsey Russell, presents a varied program of orchestral works including Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture,” “Jupiter” from The Planets by Gustav Holst, “Finale” from Stravinsky’s Firebird; and musical theater selections from Phantom of the Opera and Sound of Music. College Night is geared for high school juniors, seniors, and their parents; for college students who plan to transfer to other schools; for adult and non-traditional learners; and for high school counselors. Monday, May 21, 1:00 p.m., Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club, Amenia DCC Foundation 18th Annual Golf Tournament in Memory of Jack Orcutt: The event features a barbecue lunch, beer and soft drinks served all day, plus cocktails, dinner, prizes, and a raffle drawing immediately following the tournament. Registration and lunch start at 11:30 a.m. All proceeds benefit DCC student scholarships and other College needs. Fees are $150 per person or $600 per foursome. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
