Film by DCC Alumnus to Open in New York and California May 30

Release date: May 7, 2008

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Dutchess Community College graduate Chris Bell’s Film “Bigger, Stronger, Faster*” will make its 31-theater premiere in New York and California on May 30.

The opening follows the film’s success at the Sundance Film Festival, the Full Frame Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival. The movie is scheduled for a wider release on June 6.

“Bigger, Stronger, Faster*” is a documentary about America’s win-at-all-cost culture. It focuses on steroid use both nationally and through a narrower lens that put the spotlight on Bell himself along with his two brothers, each a bodybuilder who struggled with the decision whether or not to use steroids.

The trailer for the film premiered on the television program “Access Hollywood” on May 2, and a feature article appeared in USA Today on May 5.

Bell grew up in Lagrangeville and attended Arlington High School before graduating from DCC’s Communications program in 1993. He went on to attend the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, graduating in 1997.

Bell’s past honors include the Filmmaker of the Future Award at the 2000 Yahoo! Film Festival for a short film called “Billy Jones,” and an award in the Sony Visions of the US contest recognizing a music video he created while at DCC.
