DCC Unveils Art Studies Program

Release date: April 23, 2008

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Dutchess Community College is now offering an Associate in Science in Art Studies, a two-year program designed for students interested in transferring to a four-year college to pursue an interest in the study of art.

The new program will allow students to create a portfolio of their work, while studying the basics in art history and studio art. Each student can explore one or more art concentrations, including graphic design, photography, ceramics, calligraphy, and mixed media.

Program graduates will have satisfied all 10 of the SUNY General Education course requirements prior to transfer to a four-year institution. Articulation agreements exist to facilitate students transferring into art education programs.

For more information about the program, call Joe Cosentino, chair of the Performing, Visual Arts and Communications program, at 845-431-8610 or visit www.sunydutchess.edu.
