Course Description:
This course is designed for the A.S. degree in Exercise Science and Wellness.  The student will learn to assess cardiorespiratory endurance, body fat, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, pulmonary function, and blood pressure, and to evaluate the results of such tests. Student will be instructed on how to perform a complete health history on a client, the legal issues they would be presented with and how to interpret these results to the client.

Pulmonary Function:

  • physiology of respiratory system

  • techniques of assessing lung volumes

Blood Pressure:

  • general application

  • techniques of blood pressure, manually and on Microfit

  • contraindication to testing

Flexibility:

  • physiology of flexibility

  • techniques of flexibility

  • interpretation of results

Muscle Strength and Endurance:

  • general application

  • physiology of muscle strength and endurance

  • techniques of muscle strength and endurance

  • interpretation of results

Cardio respiratory Endurance and Heart Disease:

  • Cardio respiratory physiology

  • techniques of assessing Cardio respiratory fitness
